A Summer To Remember by Elle Chardou

a summer to remember

“Life is really strange. Two events have shaped mine although I am only twentyfour, a successful entrepreneur and owner of my own gallery, Maison des Artistries, in Tribeca. One happened when I was ten: I realized I was in love with my brother’s best friend, Paul. The other event happened while I attended Vassar College during my last semester.”

Jerrica Peterson doesn’t believe in fairytale relationships but she does believe in friendship and she has three best friends who will stick by her through thick and thin. Jerrica and her best friends: Talia, Autumn and Savannah bond over a summer of heartbreaks and discoveries, love and scandal, and three unforgettable vacations to Southampton, Martha’s Vineyard and Miami Beach. Every moment they spend together will enrich their lives and make it a summer they will never forget and one they will always remember.

“I was a woman of the new generation who didn’t necessarily act like a man but definitely treated sex the way men did and it was completely liberating. Sex was a great past time and a fun activity but it didn’t necessarily lead to love and I wasn’t expecting it to either. I was twenty-four and my whole life was in front of me. I had plenty of time to settle down and find the right guy.”

Meet Jerrica. She is young, beautiful, and successful as she owns her own art gallery in Manhattan. But, on the inside she is broken. She has such a low opinion of herself that she will have sex with any man and not attach any feelings to it. One reason why Jerrica behaves like this is because she is in love with her brother’s best friend but he is off limits. As the story in A Summer to Remember develops, I could understand and empathize why Jerrica has this type of personality.

A Summer to Remember is a very quick read. But, there things such as the constant dropping of name brands and the skin tone/heritage mentions that really irritated me and they did not add anything to the storyline so they could have been omitted. If you are looking for a fun, afternoon read on a hot, summer day then A Summer to Remember by Elle Chardou is the book for you!
