Juggling motherhood and her job as a real-estate agent, Elizabeth Jordan wishes her husband could help more around the house. But Tony’s rising career as a pharmaceutical salesman demands more and more of his time. With a nice home in the suburbs and a lovely young daughter, they appear to have it all—yet they can’t seem to spend time together without fighting.

Hoping for a new listing, Elizabeth visits the home of Clara Williams, an elderly widow, and is both amused and uncomfortable when Clara starts asking pointed questions about her marriage and faith. But it’s Clara’s secret prayer room, with its walls covered in requests and answers, that has Elizabeth most intrigued . . . even if she’s not ready to take Clara’s suggestion that she create a prayer room of her own. As tensions at home escalate, though, Elizabeth begins to realize that her family is worth fighting for, and she can’t win this battle on her own. Stepping out in blind faith, putting her prayers for her family and their future in God’s hands, might be her only chance at regaining the life she was meant for.

Yea, I know that I am late to the “party” because the book and movie were released a few years ago, but right now was the right time for me to dive into War Room. I can openly admit that I was nowhere near being in the correct frame of mind to not only read but to buy into what the book was about when it was released. I was angry at everyone: folks I felt wronged me, myself, and even God.

I kept hearing from folks that either the book or the movie had a very powerful effect on their life so I had very high expectations once I decided to open my copy. I was pulled in at the very beginning when they mentioned the most stressful things in life are moving, divorce and death and those three things are what my life has been about for the last four years. I was drawn in and was intrigued to find out how the story played out. I completely forgot I was reading a work of fiction.

And, see that’s the funny thing about how God works. He will find a way to reach you. He knows what is in your heart and what He needs to do to get your attention. War Room definitely got my attention and it held me captive over the past few days because when I was not reading it, I was thinking about it. I was talking about it. I was posting about it. War Room is a life changer. The book alone forces you to look within and see if you are really dealing with the goat in the mirror.

I recommend this book to anyone that is not only interested in developing a closer relationship with God, but if they want to really want to be the best version of their self. War Room through the use of realistic characters and situations made me examine my own life and I must say that my outlook on the power and importance of prayer has changed and my life will never be the same.

Every wish will be fulfilled

Five seductive dates with gorgeous real estate mogul Jaleen Walker—Danni Allison can’t believe she said yes. At least spending time with the sexy playboy might stop her from dwelling on the momentous secret she carries. Revealing her background could cost Danni the beautiful life she’s built, along with a partnership in the Dupree sisters’ lingerie company. Yet with each passionate encounter, Jaleen proves his knack for anticipating her deepest longings. How long before he also discovers the truth she’s been desperately hiding?

From the moment he meets Danni, Jaleen knows that he wants her as more than just a friend. Although their physical connection is electric, emotionally she’s holding something back. And so is he… Will their five incredible nights together be long enough for them to stop keeping secrets…and start losing their hearts to each other forever?

“Being on the receiving end of a man like Jaleen wasn’t just a chapter to add to your memories. It was the entire damn book.”

Well, sign me up right now!! I honestly don’t know where to begin with this review. I absolutely adored every single word written in this book. Some books go beyond words and become experiences and Nights of Fantasy was indeed an experience.

“He opened his eyes and instead of the guarded – yet playful – playboy she usually saw, she recognized the man behind the sarcastic comments and charming demeanor. She saw the troubled man who had more questions right now than he had answers for.”

It was such a relief to read about a man that needed emotional support just as much as a woman. Green had a fresh concept based on five dates and with each date we could see each character’s development, let down walls, and grow closer to each other. Outside of the romance aspect, this book touched on the importance of sisterhood and what it truly means to uplift and support one another.

I did something with Nights of Fantasy I’ve never done while in the middle of reading a book, I made a video of my thoughts. Two words: TANTRIC YOGA!!! After reading and completely loving her prior books, it is safe to say that Sherelle Green has become of my favorite romance writers!!!

Review: Her Secret Life by Tiffany L. Warren

Scarred by poverty and life with a crackhead mother, Onika Lewis had a rough start. Still, thanks to her sharp mind, and hard work, she graduated with honors from a prestigious college. But her achievements weren’t enough to earn her the elite status she craved. So she leveraged her gorgeous looks to become a rich man’s trophy…and was eventually dumped her for a younger model. Now Onika is unemployed, broke—and homeless. She’s making a fresh start through a unique women’s shelter, but when she meets Graham, a kind-hearted commuter with whom she has an instant connection, she can’t bring herself to tell him her secret…

Suddenly Onika has someone who cares about who she is beyond her looks. Graham’s unselfish love gives her the kind of hope she’s never had. But when Onika’s wealthy ex wants her back, she plays one deception too many trying to have it all. Now present lies and past secrets are tearing her world apart. And Onika will need to educate herself once more—to learn what really matters, find faith, forgiveness—and build a life she truly deserves.

“She seemed damaged and complicated, yet enlightened. She was insecure and maybe a little arrogant. She was modern and sophisticated, but the southern charm shone through. She was a series of beautiful contradictions.”

Aren’t we all just a bunch of contradictions?? Onika is the type of person that many of us, if we are being honest, would turn our noses up at if we met her in real life. Warren does an extremely excellent job of breaking down each of those contradictions and showing us why we are doing ourselves a disservice by judging folks simply based on face value. Her Secret Life reminds us that even though our current environment and/or situation might be less than ideal that we can rise above it.

“Yes, it does. You are like every other brother out here. Y’all want us to stand up for you, be down for you and have your back, and then when we need you, you’re running after the first biracial, light bright chick you see. What is your little friend? She’s Latina, isn’t she? Anything but black?”

This passage and the entire book is the truth!! Oh my, I can’t even put into words my initial reaction. It hits on so many different levels, issues, and emotions that you can’t help but feel connected to Onika’s story. Warren has written an almost perfect book with the only problem being that I wanted more. Do yourself a favor and buy a copy now. You’ll be happy you did and you’ll thank me later!
