Erotic Romance (intended for mature readers, ages 18+)

Part 1 of 2

Danielle Ward hasn’t had sex in six years. Sure, she’s been on dates. She even has a boyfriend, but it seems something is always getting in the way when it comes to doing the deed.

After her boyfriend finally loses his patience and leaves her to drown her sorrows, her best friend Georgia comes up with a plan that becomes more and more brilliant with each shot of tequila.

Book a non-refundable solo trip to an adults-only resort with the intention of getting laid.

The beach is picturesque, her room is luxurious, the alcohol is included … and Danielle can’t wait to get the hell out of there the second she checks in. That is, until an uninvited kiss from drunken hotel guest and Hollywood hottie Evan Weston. Once Evan discovers the reason for Danielle’s vacation, he won’t let up in his pursuit to be the one to solve her problem.

Caught between her desire for a fresh start and the preposterous idea of having a fling with her celebrity crush, Danielle decides it’s time to throw caution to the wind and her panties to the floor.

But it’s never just sex, is it? And Evan Weston isn’t just any man. He isn’t just a movie star.

Evan Weston is Danielle’s last resort.

What is a better way to deal with a break up then heading to the beach for some relaxation and fun in the sun? That is exactly what Dani plans to do after the end of her six year relationship. She packs her bags and heads to the adults-only resort and all seems well until Evan Weston crosses her path. This is supposed to be a vacation of no-strings, but what happens when feelings get involved?

Alcohol, random kisses, and an “anything goes” resort leads to an atmosphere that is full of fun. Evan is not your average guy, he is a celebrity that has all of the women gushing over him, but he only has eyes for Dani. Dani thinks it is some type of practical joke and that Evan seriously couldn’t be interested in her. She is putting way too much thought into it and doesn’t go with the flow. Can’t we all relate to that?

“But great sex, the really amazing stuff, in my opinion, is based on trust. If you trust someone, you can be vulnerable without being scared and if you can be vulnerable, you open yourself up to experience things you never could’ve with someone that you had apprehension about. Sex without feelings is possible, of course. It’s rampant even. But sex with feelings? Honey, that’s the stuff that’ll send you to the moon and back.”

Once Dani decides to get out of her own mind and give Evan a chance, the book becomes even more fun to read. While Last Resort is a fun read, there is some symbolism as we go on this journey of Dani letting go of her past and realizing the reason why it had not worked with others. And, with the alternating POV’s we also get to see things through Evan’s eyes and he has quite a story to tell as well.

This is the third book that I have read by Kate Roth, and it is my favorite so far! There was an equal balance between erotica, romance, humor, and realistic apprehension and questioning. The end left me wondering and now anxiously awaiting Best Laid Plans!!!
