Quintessentially Q by Pepper Winters Review & Giveaway

“All my life, I battled with the knowledge I was twisted… fucked up to want
something so deliciously dark—wrong on so many levels. But then slave fifty-eight entered my world. Hissing, fighting, with a core of iron, she showed me an existence where two wrongs make a right.”
Tess is Q’s completely. Q is Tess’s irrevocably. But now, they must learn the
boundaries of their unconventional relationship, while Tess seeks vengeance on the men who sold her. Q made a blood-oath to deliver their corpses at Tess’s feet, and that’s just what he’ll do.

He may be a monster, but he’s Tess’s monster.

“Merde, esclave, stop. For fuck’s sake, you’re ruining me.” Even with the
ferocity of Q’s anger, I thrilled with the knowledge I was winning in some small
measure—the former slave training the master. If I’d been a poet, I would’ve written how serendipitous it all was. How fate entwined and cursed us both.
Q gripped my hips, propping me higher. Pulling out, the heat of his erection
nudged my ass; I jolted with urgency.
Sitting higher on his knees, Q muttered, “This is going to be fast and hard, and I
don’t want you to say a word, do you hear me?”
I nodded, breathless already. “I’ll do anything you want, as long as you let me
“You can come, but only when I say.” His nails imprinted crescent moons into
my skin, digging deep. “But if you come before, I’ll punish you worse. I won’t feel regret or remorse. I’ll find a way to punish you that doesn’t make me suffer, too.”
He rocked, and his cock eased down my ass, between my spread thighs,
nudging my core.
Words were beyond me. I nodded wildly, scrabbling at the carpet. The strands
wrapped around my fingers and I held on for dear life.
With urgent hands, Q untwisted my coiled ponytail and grabbed a handful.
With a jerk, he forced my head back. My spine arched as he plunged inside me.
Excruciating fullness.
I opened my mouth to scream, but he clamped a hand over me, riding me,
containing my cries. “Shush, esclave. Not a sound, remember?”
The intrusion was pain personified, the rocking endless bliss.
The way he took me held no remnants of the sometimes sweet man beneath
the blackness. This was purely brutal and dark and animalistic. I loved it.
With his cock deep inside, his fist wrapped around my ponytail, and his other
hand clasped over my mouth, he fucked me. Bucking so hard, carpet burn
incinerated my pantyhose in a matter of seconds.
But every time he thrust, I pushed back to meet him. I bowed more than I’d
ever bowed before, relishing in the burn of my hair being tugged. My lungs strained as Q grunted and rutted, taking me true to his word.

Have you ever read something and thought, “What the f*ck am I reading?” Seriously, you put the book and/or kindle down and ask yourself that. Well, that was me while reading Quintessentially Q by Pepper Winters.

I wanted her chained and completely dependent on me. I wanted to feed her and bathe her. I wanted to be the very reason she stayed alive. F*ck, I should get a pet. Tess, isn’t a pet, you bastard. She’s your equal. She’s Tess. Elle est a toi. She’s yours.

If you’ve read Tears of Tess then you already know Tess and Q’s relationship is a very unconventional one. Pepper took me deep into a world and into people’s psyche that I don’t know if I have ever even imagine they existed. I found myself thinking that no matter how sick and demented Q might be, I was rooting for him to work through his pain.

The love between Q and Tess is real, it is deep, and somehow it is quite endearing. The storyline and content is very dark so if that is not your thing then you will not like this book. I say bravo to Pepper Winters because I thought it would be a huge undertaking to try to top Tears of Tess (which was released earlier this year), but she stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park with QQ!!!

Pepper Winters wears many roles. Some of them include writer, reader, sometimes wife. She loves dark, taboo stories that twist with your head. The more tortured the hero the better and she constantly thinks up ways to break and fix her characters. Oh, and sex… her books have sex.
She loves to travel and has an amazing, fabulous hubby (who speaks French—hot!) who puts up with her love affair with her book boyfriends. She loves to hear from her readers so hit her up at pepperwinters@gmail.com.

Why I Write

This could be the shortest post in the world, because my answer is simple:

Because it’s a part of me.

I write because I can’t NOT write. It’s as much a part of my blood as oxygen and surviving.

But because I need to fill this with more than just two sentences I’ll try to elaborate.

I’ve written ever since I was little. I’d come up with all these plotlines with vikings, and princesses, and good versa evil. Disney were my FAVOURITE movies to watch. Especially the darker ones. But then I found out Disney had tweaked older storytales and they weren’t all flowers and roses after all it gave me interest into the darker part of the romance and became fascinated by it.

I wrote my first book based on mythology and it was diabolical. I then tried again, this time with beta readers and critique partners and learned and grew as a writer. It took me four books of writing fluffy, sweet romance where I figured I wasn’t meant to write that genre. I wanted to torture, and make my characters EARN their Happy Ever After.

And then Q was born. He swooped into my brain and didn’t tell me a thing about himself, but I knew I had to write a dark love story without fully knowing the hero / anti hero who refused to tell me about himself.

Tears of Tess was written in 7 weeks and I loved every moment of it. My fingers flew over the keyboard and I felt a connection to my writing that I’d been missing from writing more tame romance. I found my niche and LOVED letting go. However, I still held myself back, unsure how far into the dark people would want to go. So I held myself back.

Quintessentially Q was my version of letting a full glimpse into how I want to make my characters work for their HEA. I want the reader to feel heartbreak, hope, despair, and ultimately love and connection.

And that is exactly why I write.

To make a reader believe a fictional character is them.

Thanks so much for having me on your blog!!!!
