My Review

I am probably one of the few women that have never seen an episode of the reality show Basketball Wives and after reading Raging Blue by Renee Daniel Flagler, I probably never will. Blue Holiday is the wife of a star athlete named Jaylin. Jaylin not only has a problem being faithful to his wife, he also has an issue of staying employed with his team.

Unlike most women who see marrying an athlete and/or having a baby by one as a career plan, Blue has her own family money so she does not rely on Jaylin as her meal ticket. As Blue prepares to part ways with her husband, there are absolutely no boundaries as to how far Jaylin will go to keep her and her money in his life. Over the course of the book, Blue forms quite a bond with Jaylin’s friend Gavin, but little does she know that her best friend Mia is hoping to form a bond with Jaylin.

Renee Daniel Flagler did not disappoint with Raging Blue as it was quite refreshing to read a story about a woman who was not dependent on a man financially. The characters are flawed, sometimes too emotionally needy, conniving, backstabbing, passionate, in other words, they are human. I say that I will probably never watch Basketball Wives because it is my belief that most of those women are more like Mia than Blue and I don’t have time for that foolishness. Read the book and you will understand! I ended the book with some lingering questions and it is my hope that they will be answered in Still Raging!!!
