authorinterview

Set the mood for us…when you’re writing, you have to…

I write in many different places, usually.  If I’m in my home office, I like to have on my comfy socks, a heater, and some loud music.  Then I make sure I have either tea or water next to me as well as my phone.  But, a good part of SWEET REVENGE was written on airplanes, in airports, and in hotels with magnificent views because I had many book signings and attended several conferences during my writing time.  No matter what, I have the music blasting—either from my computer or my earphones.

What has been the most surprising and upsetting part of your literary journey?

I guess the most surprising part has been how wonderfully receptive and loyal fans can be.  They work so hard to promote the books and even formed a Street Team to keep in touch and have some fun.  It has been so heartwarming getting to know some of these wonderful folks!  As for upsetting?  Well, it’s upsetting to realize that I’m not Wonder Woman and I can’t do it all.  I recently gave up my day job as a college professor, a job I really enjoyed, because I finally figured out that there’s only so much time in the day, and some of it needs to be relaxing, fun time with family and friends.  Ah…to be Wonder Woman.

When you’re not writing, what authors do you enjoy reading? What are you currently reading?

I’m a huge Jennifer Apodaca fan, and I’m currently reading her paranormal series that she writes under the name Jennifer Lyons.  I also read Cynthia Eden, Kate Douglas, Reese Monroe, Nora Roberts, and Janet Evanovich regularly.

If you had to write your life story, what would the title be? How does that title portray your story?

Wow – what a great question.  A title, huh?  How about:  Irish girl settles down with Hot Italian Rebel and writes romances that Sizzle.  Long title, right?  Turns out I don’t get to name many of my books.  I try, but my attempts are always just a little off.  Thank goodness for wonderful editors who know how to create titles!

What are three things readers might be surprised to learn about you?

1)    I interned for President Ronald Reagan in California after he was President.  We worked in the penthouse of the Fox Plaza Building (the one blown up in Die Hard), and I saw him every day I was there.

2)    I backpacked across Australia with my karate instructor/boyfriend for six weeks and had a ball.  Even went scuba diving by the Great Barrier Reef.

3)    I have a shoe closet because I absolutely love shoes, boots, sandals…you name it.  They’re in boxes with pictures on the outside.  My sisters make fun of me.

Why do you think your writing matters?

I think all writing matters.  We live in tough times.  The economy is still struggling, more people are getting sick than ever before, and several of us still have loved ones fighting across the globe.  Being able to create a story and yank somebody out of reality for a little while is a good thing to do.  We all need a break every once in a while.

What can your fans look forward to next?

Right now I’m working on BLIND FAITH, which is the third book in the Sin Brothers series.  It features Nate Dean, who has to seek out the one woman who broke his heart so many years ago.  There’s a bit of tension between the two, to put it lightly.  J

Thank you again for allowing me to interview you on Tiffany Talks Books. Are there any last words for those who are reading this interview?

Thank you so much for having me over today!  These were wonderful questions, and I had a lot of fun answering them!
